Rwanda’s national carrier and one of Africa’s fastest growing airlines, RwandAir, called for a strategic meeting with its cargo agents in Lagos recently at Presken Hotel, Airport Road, Ikeja, to solicit feedback from the agents on the airline’s service delivery, address pressing concerns, and outline future plans to enhance cargo operations.
In his opening remarks, Regional Manager, Dennis Rwiliriza, underscored the airline’s commitment to fostering strong partnerships with its cargo agents, as well as RwandAir’s commitment to mitigating their concerns, saying, “The whole purpose of this meeting is to address any areas where there are difficulties as you conduct business with us. We’re here for you. You can be assured that we’ll take whatever feedback you give us, and we’ll address whatever needs to be addressed.”
With regards to rate negotiation and competitive pricing, the airline boss delved into intricacies, explaining that RwandAir considers prevailing costs, competition, and profit margins when determining cargo rates. He urged agents to inform the airline when rates deter potential clients, allowing for mutually beneficial adjustments. This collaborative approach ensures competitive pricing, enhancing the airline’s market position and supporting agents’ business growth.
Rwiliriza went on to announce that RwandAir is about to re-launch a dedicated freighter service, operated on an ad hoc basis, aimed at alleviating current capacity constraints. According to him, though limited aircraft space and cargo protocols such as those for dangerous goods can cause delays, the new service will streamline cargo operations, increasing efficiency and reliability.
The event ended on a celebratory note with the airline offering gift bags to its high flying agents as a recognition for their dedication and stellar performances.
