President Muhammadu Buhari has honoured Allen Onyema, the Chairman of Air Peace, one of Nigeria’s leading indeginous airlines, for his valuable contribution towards the growth of the Nigerian economy by conferring on him the National Productivity Order of Merit (NPOM) award.
The NPOM award, which falls under the category of Employers of Labour, was given to Onyema recently during the 19th National Productivity Day ceremony held in Abuja.
While accepting the award, Onyema thanked President Buhari and the Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige for the honour, and reiterated his commitment to continue contributing his share to ensure the buoyancy of the Nigerian economy, because in his own words, “Nigeria is our country, and we all must do all we can to take her to greater heights”, he said.
Other worthy awardees under the same category include Abdul Samad, Chinedum Okereke, Jim Ovia and Mike Adenuga.
Sources say prior to the award ceremony, Senator Ngige had expressed satisfaction at the creation of the award by the Federal Government, saying that it is sure to bolster hard work and promote healthy competition among entrepreneures in the sector – an outcome which can only be good for the nation.
