The Director General (DG) of the National Council for Arts and Culture (NCAC), Otunba Olusegun Runsewe is gearing up to pay tribute to the leadership of the National Association of Nigeria Travel Agencies (NANTA) for its role in the promotion of tourism and culture in Nigeria and abroad. The event promises to be a fitting and exciting prelude to NANTA’s upcoming 47th Annual General Meeting (AGM).

Sources say the dinner party, which will be held in Abuja at a yet undisclosed date, will attract relevant stakeholders from the culture, aviation, tourism and corporate circles, and will provide a highly conducive environment for networking while celebrating NANTA as a model for executing effective collaboration between the government and the private sector in the advancement of a common agenda.

According to Runsewe, “We cannot pretend that NANTA has not made us proud. Indeed, the Association, under the watch of Mrs. Susan Akporiaye, has kept us on our toes; has reached out in the most strategic manner, and has connected to sharing the pictures of how government could join hands with private sector players to serve Nigerians well. Mrs. Akporiaye and NANTA have made us proud, and they deserve to be appreciated and celebrated.”

In the DG’s opinion, other trade groups have a lot to learn from NANTA about succession – something NANTA has effectively executed with grace and good faith during the forty-seven (47) years of its existence; permitting the Association to grow and position itself as a flag bearer for everything culture and tourism in Nigeria.

He went on to express his appreciation for the Federation of Tourism Associations of Nigeria (FTAN), and revealed that NCAC and FTAN are set to work closely for “a more enduring and fruitful, practical and beneficial relationship” for the benefit of the private sector.

Noteworthy is the fact that this week, the NANTA President, Mrs. Susan Akporiaye, will be inaugurating members of the Planning Committee of NANTA’s upcoming AGM – an event scheduled to hold in March of this year, in the northern city of Kano.
