EgyptAir Strengthens Market Presence with Travel Agents Sensitization Workshop – By Daisy BARRO

EgyptAir, Africa’s pioneering and seventh global airline, recently organized a comprehensive product sensitization, hospitality, and destination marketing workshop for Nigerian travel agents at the Sheraton Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos. The exclusive event, held on September 26, 2024, aimed to fortify relationships between the airline and its stakeholders, enhance market access, and promote Egyptian tourism.

In his inaugural address, EgyptAir Country Manager, Mr. Amr Basha, underscored the airline’s commitment to delivering exceptional customer experiences, emphasizing its distinctive Egyptian hospitality: “As a leading airline, our promise is to ensure that we offer world-class services to our esteemed customers, offering the best of Egyptian hospitality by taking you safely to your destination while you sit back, relax and enjoy the sky. Today’s event is aimed at strengthening the relationship we have as an airline with you our stakeholders and partners, in an effort to better understand the challenges you might have in order to find lasting solutions to them. We are an airline that prides itself on hospitality, and we promise to continue to listen to you so that we can serve you better.”

“We also call on you our travel agents to promote Egypt as a wonderful destination for many different types of customer needs like beaches and resorts, medical, history and art, and we are aiming to promote and encourage that, through our partnership with our GSA parent company in Egypt who is offering different types of tour packages that suit different customer needs”, he assured.

The workshop featured an in-depth presentation by EgyptAir Sales Executive, Miss Faith Obazee, who showcased the airline’s brand value proposition, services, and updates on network expansion and new routes; fleet modernization and upgrades; destination portfolio, including Egyptian attractions and global connections; Frequent Flyer Programs as well as codeshare and interline agreements with partner airlines.

A subsequent question-and-answer session addressed pressing concerns regarding visa requirements and procedures; ticketing and fare structures; transit and immigration protocols and passenger facilitation and services.

EgyptAir Station Manager, Mr. Mohammed Afifi, highlighted the critical importance of Yellow Fever Cards for travelers visiting or transiting Egypt for twelve (12) hours or more, ensuring compliance with international health regulations.

Muharram Abdel Rahman, General Manager of Elite Tours, EgyptAir’s General Sales Agent (GSA) in Nigeria, discussed the airline’s strategic decision to engage a GSA, aimed at deepening market penetration and driving sales growth.

The event also featured interactive video sessions showcasing Egypt’s diverse tourism offerings, including cultural heritage sites (Pyramids of Giza, Egyptian Museum); beach resorts (Sharm El Sheikh, Hurgada) as well as adventure experiences (Nile River cruises, quad biking).

The workshop culminated in the recognition of top-performing travel agents for the 2023/2024 financial year. Awards and certificates were presented to Wakanow for being the overall Most Outstanding Travel Agent; Satguru, which came in 2nd place; Finchglow Travels (3rd place); Aeroland Travels (11th place); Good News (12th place); Travel Beta (13th place) amongst others. Mr. Amr Basha commended the travel agents for their exceptional performance, underscoring the airline’s appreciation for their partnership.

EgyptAir’s proactive engagement with Nigerian travel agents highlights the airline’s commitment to strengthening its route network, expanding its customer base, and promoting Egyptian tourism. By integrating its services with the travel agency ecosystem, the carrier is demonstrating its dedication to continue to navigate the complexities of the African aviation market, optimize its operations, and achieve sustainable growth.
