Skyway Aviation Handling Company (SAHCO) Plc. is bolstering its operations with yet more fresh Ground Support Equipment (GSE) meant to deliver high quality service, as well as aid in the ongoing training of its staff. The said machinery include an Air Start Unit, two (02) units of Airmarrel High Loader LAM 7000 and ten (10) Passenger Step Units.

Experts say the Air Start Unit is an eco-friendly machine possessing a built-in autoregulatory system attached to the fuel gauge to protect the engine from damage by automatically shutting down when fuel levels fall below thirty (30) litres. The LAM 7000 which is equiped with proximity sensors as well as manual and electrical emergency pumps is suited to freight as much as 7,000kg; while the Passenger Step Units can provide passenger ingress to various aircraft types including the A320, A340, A380, B747, B767, B777 etc.

The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of SAHCO, Mr. Basil Agboarumi had the following to say about SAHCO’s continuous investment in modern equipment: “We want to be known for providing excellent ground handling services and for us to be able to do that, we must have staff that are well trained, and also have the right equipment to work with”, he said.

In line with having the right equipment to work with, sources say that SAHCO’s team of engineers has fabricated twenty (20) luggage carts using readily available material. These carts which are capable of maneuvering at 90° can carry more luggage than their European correlates, no doubt saved the company a fortune with regards to foreign exchange, and have been moved to SAHCO’s Abuja station for improved service delivery.
