Royal Air Maroc has hosted the first edition of a novel initiative by the African Airlines Association (AFRAA) dubbed “AFRAA Member Airline CEOs Leadership Dialogues”- a platform created with the overarching goal of providing an enabling environment in which the Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of AFRAA’s member airlines can dialogue constructively for the growth of the industry.

The maiden edition of the Dialogue which was held on April 25, 2022 at the headquarters of Royal Air Maroc in Casablanca, Morocco was graced by delegates from the host airline as well as the AFRAA Secretariat such as Mr. Abdelhamid Addou, CEO, Royal Air Maroc; Mr. Abdérahmane Berthé, Secretary General, AFRAA; Ms. Fatima Zahra Jabri, Director Alliances & Partnerships, Royal Air Maroc; Ms. Maureen Kahonge, Snr. Manager Business Development & Communications, AFRAA, amongst others.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Berthé said, “AFRAA is pleased to launch today the CEOs Dialogues with our debut host as Royal Air Maroc, one of AFRAA’s earliest members that joined the Association in 1977. Today’s deliberations created an opportunity to connect for reflection and exchange of ideas between AFRAA and Royal Air Maroc.”

“This initiative facilitates better understanding of individual airline needs, local matters and challenges, priorities and business plans; thereby enabling us tailor specific actions to enhance relevance of the Association to our membership. I look forward to a continued mutually beneficial working relationship with Royal Air Maroc and the entire AFRAA fraternity at large”, he added.

The CEOs Dialogue sessions will be held all year round, and will be aimed specifically at ensuring AFRAA members’ sustainability in tandem with the Association’s five (05) pillars namely safe, secure and reliable air transport; visibility, reputation and influence of African airlines; sustainable air transport; cooperation and data intelligence.
