Ibom Air has announced its title sponsorship and official airline partnership for the Captain’s Day Inaugural Golf Tournament, scheduled to tee off on March 29, 2025, at the esteemed Ibom Golf and Country Club in Uyo.
The partnership aligns with Ibom Air’s goal to promote tourism in Akwa Ibom State by providing seamless travel options for delegates and visitors attending Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE).
The amateur tournament, set on one of West Africa’s most challenging 18-hole golf courses, promises to be a landmark sporting event, attracting golfers with handicaps ranging from 0 to 36 from across Nigeria and Africa. Pre-tournament festivities will commence with an Ibibio-themed cocktail reception on March 28 at 7 PM, offering players, business leaders, and guests a unique opportunity to network.
According to Mr. George Uriesi, Executive Director/Chief Operating Officer of Ibom Air and an avid golfer, “Ibom Air supports initiatives that drive tourism, economic growth, and regional connectivity. Golf, like aviation, demands skill, precision, and excellence. We are honored to partner on an event that embodies these values while enhancing the travel experience for golfers.”
High Chief Isuamfon Archibong, Club Captain, emphasized the broader impact of the tournament, stating, “The Captain’s Day Golf Tournament is more than just a sporting event – it’s a platform for business networking, tourism promotion, and cultural exchange. Welcoming professional golfers and business leaders to Uyo will further establish Akwa Ibom as a premier lifestyle and sporting destination”, he said.
