Femi Falana (SAN) has cried foul on the unfavourable treatment of Nigeria’s biggest carrer, Air Peace, with regards to the lack of enforcement of the Bilateral Air Services Agreement (BASA) signed between Nigeria and the United Kingdom, and has demanded that British Airways and Virgin Atlantic cease operations into Nigeria.

The activist made the call recently at the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Conference in Abuja, where he said: “If Air Peace is not allowed to fly to London, then British Airways and Virgin Atlantic should be stopped from flying to Nigeria.”

According to Mr. Falana, Air Peace has long demonstrated its capacity to operate long haul flights, as evidenced by those it currently operates, such as flights to South Africa, Israël, India and China.

He expressed dismay that despite Air Peace’ obvious capacity and the fact that carriers like Virgin Atlantic and British Airways are operating flights on the route, Air Peace is not allowed to do the same – a situation which according to him, should be corrected with immediate effect.
