(L-R): EgyptAir Financial Manager, Mr. Mohammed Farah; EgyptAir Country Manager, Mr. Muharram Abdel Rahman; Wakanow CEO, Mr. Adebayo Adedeji; EgyptAir Station Manager, Lagos, Mr. Hamdy Abdelaziz.

EgyptAir has signed a Preferred Sales and Services Agent (PSSA) agreement with Wakanow with the aim of getting closer to its esteemed customers and trade partners. The partnership was announced recently at EgyptAir’s plush novel office space at the Wakanow office in Greenpeg building, Toyin Street – one of the airline’s three (03) new offices. The other two are located at Jubilee Mall, Admiralty Way, Lekki – Lagos, and Bond Mall, Bodija – Ibadan.

At the launch ceremony of this innovative partnership, the General Manager (GM) of EgyptAir, Mr. Muharram Abdel Rahman elaborated on the deal: “We are here today to launch our new offices to give our customers easy access to our services; leveraging the strength of our partners. This partnership will see EgyptAir open City Ticketing Offices throughout the Wakanow Travel Centre network across Nigeria, enabling our plans to expand our operations further into the Northern and Southern parts of Nigeria and allowing our customers enjoy more benefits, including visa-on-arrival in Cairo. We hope our partnership will be mutually beneficial.”

The EgyptAir boss went on to say that as part of the deal, Wakanow will be providing various packages, including both tour and medical packages for those who would like to travel to Egypt for medical purposes, because in Muharram’s opinion, “Competing only on the bases of reduced air fares is not enough: you have to combine that with visa availability and other attractions in order to see results.”

On his part, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Wakanow, Mr. Adebayo Adedeji, who couldn’t hide his excitement said, “This partnership is an enhancement for us. With EgyptAir here, it is now possible for customers to get the 360°experience: buying their tickets to Cairo, getting their visas, hotels, tour packages, rides to and from the airport – all in one building. EgyptAir is willing to take care of its customers, and we’re going to use our technological knowhow and footprint to this end.”

He went on to give a sneak peek into more of what the partnership has in store for customers thus: “We are about to launch a package on the Dubai route whereby customers can start paying ‘small small’ in view of traveling at a future date. This partnership allows us to do that. It means you can now travel, no matter your disposable income. EgyptAir owns the planes, and we’re going to get the customers to fill them”, he said.

Commenting on his airline’s plans for route expansion, the GM revealed: “We are currently studying our route economics to open Sokoto and Port-Harcourt, and we intend to up our flight frequencies across all the three cities in Nigeria from where we currently operate as follows: Kano, from three (03) to four (04) weekly flights; Abuja, from four (04) weekly flights to daily flights; and Lagos, from daily flights to ten (10) weekly flights, so we can meet up with demand.”

The PSSA agreement is expected to position Cairo as a bridge between Northern and Sub-Saharan Africa, as well as act as a gateway into other continents by creating the possibility to travel from Nigeria to Cairo, from whence passengers can connect Morocco, Jordan, Bahrain, Dubai and London on EgyptAir.
