In an effort to safeguard the safety of the Nigerian airspace, the Accident Investigation Bureau (AIB) recently restated its willingness to continue to collaborate with the Nigerian Air Force (NAF). The commitment was made by the Commissioner of AIB, Engr. Akin Olateru.
According to Olateru, one agency alone cannot completely ensure that the safety needs of the industry are met, reason why it was important that they renew their commitment to achieve the industry’s safety goals. A much welcomed step, even though as per the AIB chief, both organizations already have an excellent working relationship, further buttressed by the fact that they are both governmental agencies.
In his own words, “AIB cannot do it alone. A strong collaboration must exist among relevant agencies in order to ensure the continuous safety of the Nigerian air space,” said the AIB boss, during a reception ceremony of Group Capt. B. A. Usman, the newly appointed Abuja Military Airport Commandant.
On his part, Capt. Usman assured the Bureau of the Force’ full support, especially with matters concerning safety outside and within the airport environment, saying that NAF is always ready to swiftly succor the Bureau when necessary.
