Africa World Airlines (AWA), Ghana’s leading carrier, has reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing customer experience and expanding services on the Lagos-Accra route. Speaking at a recent Trade Partners’ Forum and Award Reception, Mr. Jonathan Kofi Appiah, Head of Commercial, highlighted the airline’s impressive on-time performance and its plans to introduce additional flights.
“It is often said that most airlines that operate on the Lagos-Accra route only survive for between 5 and 10 years at most,” Mr. Appiah noted. “However, Africa World Airlines has done both by surpassing both limits and continues to provide excellent, safe and secure services to its esteemed guests.” He attributed this success to the airline’s unwavering focus on safety, security, and punctuality: “We pride ourselves as the leading carrier on the route with an impressive on-time performance. This is because we always do all we can to ensure that our flights depart and arrive on schedule at our various destinations”, he said.
According to Mr. Appiah, AWA plans to increase its frequency on the Lagos-Accra route, with a goal of achieving three daily flights. “And in the near future, we hope to offer our guests more travel options with plans to commence flights to Port Harcourt,” he announced.
Mr. Kingsley Chima, AWA’s Country Manager in Lagos, expressed gratitude to trade partners for their continued support, acknowledging the challenges faced during the COVID-19 pandemic. “Since recovering from Covid, we have been struggling to return to 5 flights daily. However, our immediate goal is to take it to 3 daily flights and we plan to restore the early morning flights out of Accra and Lagos. We are here today and have survived this long because you supported us and keep supporting us and we would like to thank you,” Mr. Chima added.
AWA’s Sales and Marketing Manager, Mr. Aaron Nortey, reiterated the airline’s core values, emphasizing its commitment to safety, efficiency, punctuality, cost-consciousness, and reliability. “Our values at AWA is to be a safe, efficient, punctual, cost conscious, and reliable airline that is committed to offering the best service.” He also addressed concerns and challenges faced by trade partners, including issues with name corrections, ticket voiding, and refunds. He used the forum to highlight the airline’s products and services, as well as to engage with trade partners and gather feedback.
To recognize the outstanding performances of its trade partners, AWA presented awards to its top three Nigerian BSP winners: Satguru Travels, Wakanow, and Quantum Travels.
In a bid to stay abreast of the latest travel technology trends, Mr. Appiah announced AWA’s plans to adopt the New Distribution Capability (NDC) technology. This move is expected to provide trade partners with greater options and flexibility for their business.
